Kent is on a business trip to Connecticut this week. He left on Sunday morning at 7:10 AM, and he doesn't get back home until Friday night at 9:10 PM.
He told me that the client he is working at is a few miles away from a McDonalds' hamburger bun factory, so everything smells like syrup. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. :)
Here's to hunkering down for a long week, counting down the days to Friday.

Takin' a Crack at Gardening
Kent and I are teaming up with my VT comp and planting a garden this year! My VT comp, Dinah, has an organic community garden plot that is 3 ft/32 ft out by the Salt Lake County Fairgrounds.
Last Saturday, Kent, Dinah and I went to the garden and did some weeding for 3 hours. And yes, I was sore for a few days following. :)
Here's what we are planting this year:
- tomatoes
- cucumbers
- jalepeno peppers
- onions
- basil
- cilantro
- sunflower
- marigolds
- chives
- crookneck yello squash
I'll keep you posted on how it goes!

ReAL Salt Lake Game -- First of the Season
Last Thursday (April 2, s009) we were given tickets to the first ReAL soccer game of the season at the ReAL stadium in Sandy.
It was cold the entire time, and it rained A LOT during the last 30 minutes or so of the game. Luckily though, Kent and I stayed nice and warm inside on a comfy leather couch in a box suite.
My favorite part of the game? DEFINATLY the baklava!
Kent's New Church Calling
Kent got called in to meet with the Stake President on Tuesday night, and came out as the Assistant Ward Clerk in our ward.
I think Kent must have "WARD CLERK" stamped on his forehead, because he was the Exec Ward Secretary at our BYU ward, then Assistant Ward Clerk at his ward in Chicago, and now in the Capitol Hill First Ward.
I have a pseudo calling right now. I was asked to be the choir pianist for the Easter program this coming Sunday. We've had about 5 rehearsals, so I think I'm out of a calling after this Sunday! Not too shabby ...

My New Favorite Store: Rod Works

I started Saturday morning out to breakfast in Sandy at this little cafe next to my high school with my mom and sisters. YUMMM-O! I forgot how much I like pancakes -- I haven't had them in so long!
After breakfast, we went to my new favorite home decor store called, Rod Works. I bought a plate holder (see above 'before' and 'after' photos) for my kitchen on clearance for $6! And wow did that $6 brighten up my kitchen with a splash of color from my small red square plates!
I can't wait to go back. I'll keep you updated on my purchases.
Friday Night Date: The Marriage of Figaro

Kent took me on a fabulous date on Friday night! We went to dinner at the Macaroni Grill (and yes, I did have a $5 coupon that I found in my coupons ... he he), then we walked over to the Capitol Theater and saw The Marriage of Figaro, presented by the Utah Opera. It was SO good!
It was kinda long (started at 7:30, ended at 10:30), but the singers were fabulous, the plot was engaging and funny (it was an opera buffa; aka, comedic opera), and the music was beautiful.
Afterwards, I told Kent I'd like to go back and see a German opera, but he said, "NO! No Wagner!!". Apparently Kent really doesn't like Wagner. :)
